The People’s Plan (TPP) was founded in 2020 to bring together community based organizations and unions to organize for a powerful collective vision that prioritizes dignity, care, and justice for all New Yorkers. Our People’s Budget campaign won $1.5 billion back from Eric Adams’ budget cuts, put community voices at the table, and laid the groundwork for actually fixing the city’s broken process.
We’re proud of what we’ve won for New Yorkers, but we can’t stop now! In 2026, we’ll continue advocating for budget justice, bold policies, and reforms that shift power from corporations and special interests back to our communities.
No matter who is in the mayor’s office, we know that big corporations and the Trump administration are ripping off New Yorkers left and right. We’re gonna need to up the pressure, calling on our leaders in city hall to do right by the people they represent.
In 2026 we’re going to:
- “Make ‘Em Pay!” — Make Lawbreaking Corporations Pay Up: We’re developing a city-level strategy to raise billions by going after corporations and slumlords who screw over tenants and workers to fund care and affordability without waiting on Albany or DC.
- Protect New Yorkers from Federal Cuts & Persecution: The city budget is our strongest defense against Trump cuts. We’ll fight for a budget that protects every New Yorker’s right to food, housing, health care, and safety from ICE.
- Change the Rules & Build Power: From rewriting budget laws to increase transparency and accountability to organizing in neighborhoods across the city, we’re going to make sure everyday New Yorkers have a real say in how our money is spent.
