The protest arose after the Department of Justice dropped corruption charges against Adams, a decision that has generated discontent in political and citizen sectors. This Wednesday, the mayor and federal prosecutors will meet with a judge, who has indicated that the dropping of the charges remains unlikely.

About 200 New Yorkers braved the bitter cold on Wednesday to demand the resignation of indicted Mayor Eric Adams. Led by a large contingent from City University, the crowd represented many organizations: New York Communities for Change, Professional Staff Congress, PeoplesPlanNYC, Freedom Rising, Democratic Socialists of America, and others.

Demonstrators and city leaders stood outside Tweed Courthouse near City Hall in the freezing cold Wednesday, protesting against Adams before his federal court appearance around the corner. The couple hundred demonstrators are pushing to restore funding cuts to the upcoming city budget, saying the mayor cannot in good faith oversee city funds with the Trump administration over his shoulder.
